Invest Malaysia conference to feature 61 local companies

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) will co-host the 14th Invest Malaysia Capital Market Conference (IM2018) tomorrow and Wednesday, here.

Bursa Malaysia and Maybank said in a joint statement the IM2018, with the theme “Connecting Strengths, Advancing Performanc­e”, would showcase 61 listed Malaysian companies with market capitalisa­tion totalling RM767.6 billion.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is expected to deliver the keynote address.

The event is expected to gather more than 1,000 fund managers from Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United States and the United Kingdom, with total estimated assets under management of US$17.2 trillion (RM67.7 trillion).

Bursa Malaysia chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Seri Tajuddin Atan said this year’s conference aimed to provide the impetus that would advance Malaysia’s performanc­e and ensure that the country remained a top investment and listing destinatio­n.

Maybank group president and CEO Datuk Abdul Farid Alias said the bank expected last year’s economic strength to sustain well into this year, with market core earnings growth to resume.

The statement said among the notable conversati­onalists would be IMD World Competitiv­eness Centre founder Professor Stéphane Garelli, Permodalan Nasional Bhd Group chairman Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Value Partners chairman and co-chief investment officer Datuk Seri Cheah Cheng Hye and Catcha Group co-founder and CEO Patrick Grove.
