Azmin tells Pas not to drag palace into allocations issue

-

KUALA SELANGOR: Pas should not drag the Selangor palace into the issue concerning the alleged freeze of allocations for state Pas assemblymen.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the matter should be referred to him or the district offices since they were responsible for distributing the funds.

“Do not drag the palace into this. This is a childish move.

“The development allocations are distributed yearly, usually by Jan 1.

“However, there is a delay this year. I have instructed (officials in charge) to look into this to ensure programmes (that have been planned) will not be delayed,” he said after launching the Selangor aid scheme for mothers here yesterday.

Azmin said this when asked to comment on reports stating that Selangor Pas had said that the state Economic Planning Unit had informed its assemblymen that they would not receive this year’s allocations.

Selangor Pas Commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi had claimed that the state government had frozen an RM800,000 allocation meant for the party’s assemblymen.

However, Sallehen, who is Sabak assemblyman, said he did not receive any official letter on the matter.

Azmin refused to comment on Sallehen’s claim, but did not deny it.

Sallehen had said that Pas was considering meeting sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to resolve the issue. However, this will take place only upon receiving an explanation from Azmin.

It was reported earlier this month that the PKR-led state government had allegedly frozen allocations for Pas representatives.

Azmin had denied the allegation, saying that it was due to a “technical problem”.

Yesterday, Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang cautioned Azmin, who is PKR deputy president, not to mix politics with state administration.

It was reported that Pas assemblymen had been using money out of their own pocket to fund activities and programmes for constituents.

Paya Jaras assemblyman Mohd Khairuddin Othman, for example, had said he spent RM45,000 on assistance for his constituents, the Peduli Sihat programme and the opening of the Paya Jaras mini stadium.
