Azmin: Pas needn’t use Islamic labels

-

KUALA SELANGOR: Pas does not have to use religion to attract votes from the people of Selangor in the 14th General Election (GE14).

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said the state government had since 2008 adopted and practised principles in line with Islamic teachings.

“Do not use Islamic labels and (Pas) has no need to use Islam (against the opposition) because Pas has been part of the Selangor government and accepted the policies introduced in the past.

“What is important is that we must uphold justice. We do not want to see a situation where the government is rich, but the people are poor.

“What is there to change then?” he said after launching the Selangor government’s aid scheme targeted at mothers, also known as Kasih Ibu Smart Selangor (KISS).

Azmin said he was leaving it to the people of Selangor to decide whether to support Pakatan Harapan or Pas in GE14.

“He (Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) wants to win Selangor. Eventually, the public will be the one to determine this (who will rule Selangor), so let them decide.”.

On Sunday, Hadi said Pas wanted to win Selangor and rule the state in line with its Islamic administration model.

He was confident that the model would bring benefit to all and not only to Muslims.
