JITN issue settled, says MACC chief

-

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad said the issue pertaining to the establishment of the National Integrity and Good Governance Department (JITN) has been settled.

He said the commission would give its full cooperation to government agencies in their fight against corruption.

“We will give our full cooperation and commitment to make sure our duties are carried out and implemented well. This is to ensure government agencies are free from corruption and abuse of power.”

His comments came in light of the recent replacement of its Certified Integrity Officers (CeIOs) with Administration and Diplomatic Service officers, following the setting up of JITN. Previously, MACC had said the withdrawal of the

CeIOs was in line with government policy.

It was also reported that 47 of MACC’s CeIOs were removed from ministries and government agencies. They were replaced by integrity officers within the government agencies, who will report to the heads of the organisations instead of MACC.

Dzulkifli was met at the official retirement and farewell held in conjunction with the retirement of MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (management and professionalism) Datuk Seri Mohd Jamidan Abdullah.

Jamidan, 60, took his final bow at the MACC after helming the graft-busting body for 35 years.

He will be replaced by Petronas chief integrity officer Datuk Ja’afar Mahad, 58, effective Feb 1.
