1 WHAT IS YOUR WEEKLY EXERCISE ROUTINE?

I train five times a week. My training revolves around heavy compound movements such as squat bench, deadlift and overhead press. 2 WHAT IS YOUR FITNESS AIM?

To improve my strength and overall body compositio­n.

3 ARE YOU A GYM JUNKIE OR OUTDOOR

EXERCISER? Definitely gym junkie.

4 WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE WORKOUT?

Squatting. It works the whole body and gives you a nice posterior.

5 WEIGHTS OR CARDIO?

Definitely weights.

6 WHAT IS THE MOST DRASTIC THING YOU’VE DONE WHEN IT COMES TO EXERCISE?

Train seven times a week without rest. Heavy lifting every day for two to three hours a day. Sometimes twice a day.

7 WHAT IS THE ONE JUNK FOOD YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT? Burgers... and chocolate milkshakes.

8 WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PRE-EXERCISE/ PRE-RACE FUEL?

9 HOW DO YOU RECOVER FROM A HARD WORKOUT?

I eat proper meals consisting of high protein and carbs. I stretch or foam roll and make sure I get at least eight hours of sleep.

10 HOW DO YOU PREVENT INJURY?

By making sure I adequately warm-up with light movements before proceeding to heavier weights.

11 WHAT IS YOUR ADVICE TO GET PEOPLE TO EXERCISE?

The first step is to start. You don’t have to go “hardcore” and train five to seven times a week. You just need to start with short sessions and increase from there. Take it slow and push yourself ONLY if you are able to. If you can’t handle the intensity, dial it down.

12 WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE SOURCE OF PROTEIN AND WHY?

I like chicken. It’s accessible and cheap. It has a high protein content and is easy to cook. You don’t have to think so much.

13 ARE YOU PRO- CARBOHYDRA­TE OR ANTI?

Definitely pro. A lot of people have misconcept­ions about carbs. They think that carbs will make them fat. Excess calories makes you fat.

14 WHAT’S THE ONE THING THAT EXERCISE HAS TAUGHT YOU?

Grit and discipline. It has taught me to be focused and committed.

15 WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE TIME TO EXERCISE?

Noon to evening.

16 WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE WORKOUT MEMORY?

Training with my gym partners or anyone with the same goals as I have.

17 DO YOU PREFER TO EXERCISE INDIVIDUAL­LY OR IN A GROUP?

I can do both. Sometimes when I’m having a bad day, working out with a group can be fun.
