Chegu Bard drops bombshell claims about Selangor PKR leaders
Ex-PKR member claims leaders involved in abuse of power in Selangor
IN a 300-page report to the MACC, he claims that several individuals had manipulated the sand-mining tender process to obtain commissions of a few hundred thousand ringgit.
FORMER PKR member Badrul Hisham Shaharin has lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), alleging that several PKR members are involved in corruption and abuse of power in sand mining in Selangor.
Badrul, also known as Chegu Bard, led a group of Malaysian Youth Solidarity Movement members to the MACC headquarters here yesterday and submitted a 300-page report.
Badrul claimed that several PKR leaders had used un- scrupulous means in the tendering process for sand mining in the state and that there were those who had attempted to cover it up.
He said these individuals — including PKR assemblyman Dr Xavier Jayakumar and Pelabuhan Klang state constituency coordinator Azmizam Zaman Huri — had abused their position in the Selangor government to collect hundreds of thousands of ringgit in commissions.
“There may be a larger sum at stake, but we have collected evidence only on the hundreds of thousands of ringgit in commissions.”
He claimed that the politicians had used state government company Semesta PLT to approve sandmining operations.
“Hundreds of thousands of ringgit have been paid out, but the project doesn’t exist.
“This is fraud.”
He said the report submitted to MACC consisted of agreement documents, offer letters, photographs, bank transaction documents, police reports and statutory declarations.
Badrul claimed that the activity had been going on for about a year.
He claimed it was covered up by key figures in the state administration.
He also claimed that these individuals had used their ill-gotten gains to live a life of luxury, and that some of the money was used to fund PKR’s campaign in the 2016 Sarawak election.
“We hope MACC will conduct a thorough investigation and take action against corruption in Selangor under the leadership of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
“Pakatan Harapan previously said they could control Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad if he became prime minister.
“But if they can’t even control Azmin, how can they control a former dictator?”
Azmin had reportedly said the Selangor government had been transparent in sand mining in the state since 2008.
He said state revenue from sand mining had increased tremendously compared with before 2008.
Meanwhile, Dr Xavier denied there is corruption and abuse of power in sand-mining operations in Selangor.
He said Badrul should withdraw his allegation to avoid legal action.
“Let MACC investigate his claims.
“But if there is nothing to be prosecuted, I will not hesitate to sue him,” Dr Xavier said.
Azmizam, when contacted, said he would issue a statement soon after discussing it with his lawyer.
