NIBONG TEBAL: A total of 4,884 investigation papers into the alleged misconduct of policemen were opened by Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (ISCD) last year.

Its director, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Hanafi, said investigations were conducted after it received complaints.

He said the reports were based on internal inspections conducted by the force’s compliance team.

He said 2,591 investigation papers involved disciplinary cases, while 2,993 cases involved internal investigations.

“Last year, ISCD received reports from 3,180 individuals, which include information, suggestions and complaints,” he said, adding that police responded to 2,749 reports.

The remaining 431 reports, he said, were still under investigation.

He said this after opening the new Sungai Acheh police station here yesterday.

“A total of 348 reports were found baseless and no further action was taken,” he added.

Rahim said the police strove to enhance its public service delivery, besides boosting its integrity, credibility and professionalism.

“It is our desire that the modern and conducive Sungai Acheh police station will act as a driving force for all officers and personnel to provide quality service to the community,” he added.

Present were state police chief Datuk A. Thaiveegan and state secretary Datuk Seri Farizan Darus.
