REPORT HELD BY ACTOR LINKED TO DOMESTIC MATTER?

Source says Farid Kamil’s Instagram photo at police station ‘involves wife’

- KUALA LUMPUR AREF OMAR

THE police report that actor Datuk Farid Kamil held up in a picture posted on his Instagram account yesterday is believed to be linked to a domestic issue involving his 27-year-old actress wife, Datin Diana Danielle.

A source revealed that Farid, 37, had requested that access be granted to his younger brother, Anis Anwar Zahari, to enter his residence at Casa Tropicana, Damansara in order to collect his belongings there.

The source said at the time the police report was made, his two children, Muhammad and Aurora, were in his care.

The police report was apparently made at the Pantai Police Station in Lembah Pantai, as opposed to the Mutiara Damansara Police Station, as previously reported.

The source revealed that Farid had made his initial report at the police station on Jan 18, but the case was later referred to the police station in Damansara due to proximity to his residence.

At 1.40pm yesterday, Farid uploaded the photo of him holding a police report with the Mutiara Damansara Police Station in the background. His post garnered a lot of views from fans and fellow artistes, who showed support for him with well wishes and encouraging comments.

Two days ago, Farid was seen to be active again on the social media when he posted a promotional picture of his latest drama, Lafazkan Kalimah Cintamu, which began airing on Astro Ria since Jan 15.

Before this, the actor made headlines for slapping a police officer and kicking two civilians at the Kota Damansara Traffic Police Station on Jan 11.

He was released on bail on Jan 17 after pleading not guilty to four charges, which included criminal assault of a public servant and another count for disorderly conduct.

The charges were read out to him at the magistrate’s court in Petaling Jaya before magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham, who later fixed March 5 for mention.

ACTOR and director Datuk Farid Kamil Zahari was brought to court again to face a drug abuse charge. He pleaded not guilty to the offence before magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham.

He was charged with self administration of a drug called 11-nor-delta-9-tetrahydrocannabol-9-carboxylic acid, commonly called ganja, at the narcotics criminal investigations department of Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 4.30pm on Jan 11.

The father of two appeared relaxed as the charge was read to him.

The charge under Section 15 (1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act carries a maximum jail term of two years or RM5,000 fine or both, if convicted. The court set bail at RM3,000 with one surety and ordered him to surrender his passport to the court until the disposal of the case.

Nor Ariffin fixed March 5 for mention. Deputy public prosecutor Fazeedah Faik prosecuted. Farid was represented by Athari Bahardi.

He arrived at the court complex here at 9am accompanied by his brother, Fadzil Bahari Zahari.

On Jan 16, Farid was charged with two counts of causing grievous hurt to Ashraf Ahmad and constable Muhamad Nizam Jamaluddin.

He was also charged with two counts of using criminal force to obstruct Nizam from carrying out his duties and committing indecent behaviour in a police station by using vulgar language towards the officer.
