ALARMED OVER LOUD NOISE

-

A BLARING alarm from the Kajang Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) multi-storey car park last week is still irking residents at Jalan Jati Perak 1 in Jalan Bukit, Kajang.

It is learnt that the noise pollution was caused by a faulty fire alarm on Jan 18 and that it had gone on for more than 12 hours.

A complainant, Johan Nadzmi, said he was not only annoyed by the noise but also by the runaround he received from certain authorities before he finally got help to shut off the alarm.

“We expected the alarm to be repaired by the end of the day but that didn’t happen.

“When I returned from work, I called the MRT hotline. But I was told the problem was not handled by them. “I then called the KTMB hotline and was told that the alarm was managed by Railway Asset Company (RAC) which only opens during office hours.

“The person told me that he will try to resolve the problem and by 10pm it was solved,” he said.

Johan also urged the authority concerned to check maintenance at the building so that similar incidents do not recur.
