KLHC hot on THT‘s tail

-

champions Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) continued their impressive form in the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL) when they overcame Maybank 3-1 in a Premier Division match at the KLHA Stadium yesterday.

The club are now second with 14 points, just one point behind leaders Terengganu Hockey Team (THT), who defeated Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) 2-0 at the Batu Buruk Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

The match between KLHC and Maybank was delayed for 90 minutes due to a heavy downpour. Initially, the technical official had decided to call off the match after the mandatory wait of 30 min- utes but both teams agreed to play the game.

Rashid Baharom (14th minute), S y a m i m Yu s o f ( 2 9 t h ) a n d Thomas Carson (56th) netted for KLHC after Maybank had taken the lead through Allan Oscar William in the fourth minute.

“It was a hard fought win as the delay slightly affected our performance,” said KLHC coach Lim Chiow Chuan.

“We created a lot of chances but were too hasty when it came to converting them.

“And our penalty corners were also not working. We failed to take advantage of them.

“The win is good as a motivation as we have a tough game on Sunday against Universiti Kuala Lumpur.”

In Kuala Terengganu, THT defeated TNB 2-0 courtesy of Argentine Gonzalo Peillat’s brace in the 11th and 26 minutes.

RESULTS — MHL Premier Division: KLHC 3 Maybank 1, THT 2 TNB 0, TNB Thunderbolts 0 UniKL 5.
