KL road closures for Thaipusam chariot procession

ROADS in Kuala Lumpur will be closed in stages on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday to make way for a Thaipusam procession.

City Traffic Enforcemen­t and Investigat­ion Department chief Assistant Commission­er Zulkefly Yahya said these roads would be closed on Tuesday: Jalan Tun H.S. Lee, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Dang Wangi, SOGO, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Sri Amar, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Perhentian, Jalan Ipoh Batu 5 and Batu Caves.

He said the chariot procession would begin at the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee at 10pm tomorrow and end at about 2pm the following day at the Sri Subramania­r Temple in Batu Caves.

“The chariot will make its return journey from the Sri Subramania­r Temple at 4pm on Thursday and it is expected to reach Jalan Tun H.S. Lee the following day at 2pm.

“During this time, the affected roads are Jalan Ipoh Batu 5, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Perhentian, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Leboh Ampang, Jalan Tun Perak, Jalan Sultan, Jalan Hang Kasturi, Jalan Hang Lekir and reach the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee.

“The roads will reopen in stages.”

He advised road users to use public transport.
