NST ONLINE RANKS 15TH AMONG NEWS SITES

It raked in 12.65 million unique visitors last year

NST Online continues to perform in the local online media scene. It was ranked 15 among 20 news sites and blogs in Malaysia under digital meter Com Score Inc’s newly released statistics on unique visitors.

It raked in 12.65 million unique visitors in news and informatio­n categories last year.

It also outranked Kini-TV, which recorded 9.37 million unique browsers for the period.

Harian Metro’s official website, www.hmetro.com.my, recorded 48.1 million unique online visitors last year in the news and informatio­n categories.

Berita Harian’s website, www.bharian.com.my, came in second at 41.06 million unique online visitors last year.

The two Malay publicatio­ns in the New Straits Times Press stable outranked The Star, which ranked third with 38.48 million unique visitors; Sinar Harian ranked fourth with 36.94 million; and, Malaysia Kini ranked fifth with 33.22 million unique visitors.

According to the Nielsen Consumer and Media View July 2016June 2017 report, NST recorded a 10 per cent growth in readership to 200,000 from 182,000 during the period.

This growth is believed to have come in part due to the growth of NST Online.

The report also recorded an increase of readers with income above RM4,000 for NST (by 23 per cent) and New Sunday Times (by 20 per cent).

The readership of NST in the rural areas improved by 27 per cent, while in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, readership has increased by 19 per cent.

As for New Sunday Times, the readership in Ipoh has increased by 88 per cent, while in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, it has increased by 18 per cent.
