I accept it (the decision to revoke the awards) with an open heart and will remain loyal to Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V.

PARTI Amanah Negara (PAN) vice-president Datuk Husam Musa and Kelantan PAN chairman Datuk Wan Abdul Rahim Wan Abdullah yesterday confirmed that the Kelantan palace had withdrawn their “Datuk Paduka” awards.

Rahim said he and Husam, who is also the state party adviser, received a letter informing them of the revocation from State Secretary Datuk Mohd Faudzi Che Mamat yesterday.

He said the letter stated that Sultan Muhammad V had revoked their “Darjah Kebesaran Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Amat Mulia (DJMK) (Al-Ismaili II) Ahli Yang Kedua” award, which carries the title Datuk Paduka, effective yesterday.

“We have handed over the awards and also Jaksa Pendamai to state party secretary Rushdan Mustapa,” said Wan Abdul Rahim.

“Rushdan handed over the three awards to the Royal Household comptroller Nik Pakheruddin Nik Abdul Kadir about 10am today (yesterday),” he said at a press conference here.

Rahim said he accepted the palace’s decision with an open heart.

“I received the DJMK award in 2004 and Jaksa Pendamai five years later,” he said.

Faudzi confirmed the revocation of the awards.

However, he dismissed rumours that Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s award had also been revoked.

In a separate response, Husam, who is also Salor assemblyman, said he accepted the palace’s decision.

“I accept it (the decision to revoke the awards) with an open heart and will remain loyal to Sultan of Kelantan Sultan Muhammad V.

“I do not feel that there is anything wrong with His Majesty’s decision.

“We had accepted the awards (earlier) because such were the decrees by a sovereign and constitutional ruler,” Husam said at the Kota Baru High Court.
