KUALA Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) will play Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) in the final of the TNB Cup on Saturday.

Yesterday, KLHC edged Tenaga Nasional 4-3 in the second leg semifinal to take the two-leg aggregate to 6-6, and then won the sudden death shoot-out 8-7.

In the other semi-final, UniKL drew 2-2 with THT, but UniKL made the final on a 6-3 aggregate.

KLHC got their goals off Thomas Carson (15th), Jang Jonghyun (24th), Syamim Yusof (30th) and Razie Rahim (56th).

Tenaga’s scorers were Syed Syafiq Syed Cholan (11th, 40th), Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin (38th).

Tenaga had won the first leg 32.

“We were not sharp enough in the penalty corners,” said KLHC coach Lim Chiow Chuan.

“Despite winning a total of 12, we could only score two. This is the only area which I am not happy about.

“Otherwise, my team played well to come back from a one-goal deficit to take the second leg into shoot-out.

“And as usual, I did not watch the shoot-out because of personal reasons,” said KLHC coach Lim Chiow Chuan.

This season alone, KLHC goalkeeper Roslan Jamaluddin helped them to win three shootouts. The first two were in the Charity Shield and Alagendra Cup final.

As for Tenaga, their ace striker Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin said the team have a bright future.

“We lost this opportunity, but looking at the future, Tenaga have many youths on their side and I believe they will impress soon,” said Tengku Ahmad.

Tenaga lost their skipper Faiz Helmi Jali early in the game after he took a hard hit on his shoulders and might not play in the bronze medal match play-off.

RESULTS — TNB CUP, Semifinal Second Leg:

(aggregate 6-6, KLHC win 8-7 on sudden death shoot-out).

(UniKL win 6-3 on aggregate).
