PKR, DAP GREEDY, SAYS STATE PPBM
Parties refuse to negotiate about relinquishing seats, says info chief
SELANGOR Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has lambasted pact partners PKR and DAP, accusing them of being “greedy” and wanting a lion’s share of state seats.
Selangor PPBM information chief Sallehuddin Amiruddin claimed that PKR and DAP had refused to negotiate on relinquishing seats held by them, but wanted to contest 12 more seats won by Barisan Nasional.
Selangor’s 56 state seats are held by six parties — DAP (14), PKR (13), Pas (13), BN (11), Parti Amanah Negara, or PAN (2), and independents (2).
One seat (Sungai Air Tawar) remains vacant after the death of BN assemblyman Kamarol Zaki Abdul Malik last year.
Sallehudin said up to now, none of the seats had been allocated to PPBM.
“PKR wants to maintain the 14 seats it won in the 13th General Election (including Port Klang, won by former menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim before he was ousted from PKR). And the same goes with DAP, which wants to hold on to its 14 seats.
“PAN has two seats after two assemblymen defected from Pas. So, if PKR and DAP want to contest seats, what is left for PPBM?
“It will not be an issue if PPBM was set up to replace (as an alternative to) Umno.
“But no, PKR and DAP are jostling for BN seats,” he told BH yesterday.
Sallehudin said no decision on seat allocation was reached during Pakatan Harapan’s special meeting on Thursday.
“And, we have yet to be informed of a new date for the next meeting. We will wait for any development (on the issue).”
It was reported that the meeting had yet to reach a decision on the seat allocation, despite being held for two consecutive days.
A source claimed that based on a preliminary decision, PKR would run in 19 state seats, DAP would contest 18, PPBM would be fielded in 10 and PAN would be placed in eight seats.
Selangor PPBM had also refuted Selangor Pakatan secretary Zuraida Kamarudin’s claim that the pact had allocated 35 out of 56 state seats.
