35 linked to Gang 360 in Johor arrested

-

JOHOR BARU: Police scored a major success with the arrest of 35 suspects believed to be members of Gang 360 in Johor.

Johor police chief Datuk Mohd Khalil Kader Mohd said Gang 360 was believed to have been active for the past 20 years and was known for its involvement in gang fights, drug trafficking and smuggling.

“Police recently smashed the gang’s activities in Johor with the arrest of 35 men, aged between 20 and 69, in operations held across the country since December.”

Khalil said more than 100 people suspected to have direct links to the gang’s operation were rounded up for questioning following investigations into the murder of a gang member at a petrol station in Taman Pelangi here on Dec 17.

The murder is believed to be due to a spat between gang members, stemming from debts owed from drug trafficking.

“We have checked more than 100 suspects since the start of the murder case and have arrested 35 people identified as Gang 360 members.”

Khalil added that police would continue their hunt for more gang members, believed to have fled from Johor to avoid arrest.

He said the 35 suspects were detained over the last 28 days in accordance with the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) and would be charged today.

“The suspects will be charged for other offences, including funding organised criminal activities and operations.”

He added that police had frozen 73 accounts belonging to the arrested gang members, which amounted to RM6.5 million, and seized several luxury items, including luxury cars, landed properties and foreign currency.
