NIGHT OF UPSETS
PKNS take Super League top spot
PKNS leapt to the top of the Super League standings after Selangor crashed to a 4-1 defeat to Terengganu while Johor Darul Ta’zim’s match against Kuala Lumpur was washed out yesterday.
KL were leading 1-0 through Paulo Josue’s goal just before half-time before heavy rain which started to fall as the second half kicked off, forcing referee Wan Muhammad Tarmizi to take both teams off with the KL Football Stadium pitch unplayable.
Both teams will return today to resume from the 57th minute at 4pm.
JDT had the better of the exchanges in the first half but Luciano Figueroa, Jorge Pereyra Diaz, S. Kunanlan and Gonzalo Cabrera were all foiled by KL goalkeeper Kamarul Effandi Abdul Rahim.
Diaz also screwed wide with the goal at his mercy while Figueroa saw an effort just slip past the post after Kamarul was left stranded when he came off his line to block a shot by Diaz.
Josue had a volley saved by JDT goalkeeper HaziqNadzli while Boburjon volleyed just over for KL before the home team struck in first half stoppage time.
A neat triangle of pass saw Guilherme De Paula and IndraPutraMahayuddin set up Josue to fire low past Haziq to break the deadlock.
As it began to pour, Figueroa glanced a header just over in the 55th minute before the referee decided to call the game off as the pitch flooded.
Two goals by Rafael Ramazotti was enough to give PKNS a 2-0 win over Perak in Lumut and move to the top on seven points, a point ahead of JDT and Selangor.
Terengganu handed Selangor their first defeat of the season as Lee Tuck scored twice at the Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.
Kipre Tchetche drew level with Selangor’s Rufino Segovia at the top of the Super League scoring charts with his fourth goal of the season while Shahrul Aizad Zulkifli got Terengganu’s other goal before Amri Yahyah pulled one back for Selangor.
Pahang claimed their first win with new signing Francis Doe scoring their opening goal in a 3-0 victory over Kelantan at the Darulmakmur Stadium in Kuantan.
Mohamadou Sumareh and Nor AzamAzih were also among the Pahang goal scorers.
