REJECT OPPOSITION, PEOPLE URGED

No development can be carried out with its negative attitude, says Zahid

THE opposition is doing more harm than good. Therefore, it must be rejected by the people, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said no development could be carried out with the opposition’s negative attitude.

Zahid said this was different from foreign opposition parties which were interested in putting the development of a country first.

“The opposition parties in Malaysia are determined to oppose every effort of the government, although they can benefit the rakyat.

“Undeniably, it is important to have an opposition, but it has to be constructive, not destructive or detrimental, to the point that they oppose all government projects.”

He said this at the launch of the reconstructed road between Yong Peng and Tenang here yesterday.

“We have to reject them in the next general election (14th General Election). Choose a Barisan Nasional representative because we are not seasonal like the bat or squirrel which can be only seen during the fruit season.”

Throughout his two-day working visit to Johor, Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, said he had been able to assess and evaluate BN Johor.

He wanted to see a thorough BN preparation so that the coalition was prepared and its machinery strong.

Present were Zahid’s wife, Datin Seri Hamidah Khamis, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin, Deputy Works Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin and Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister, Datuk Chua Tee Yong.

Zahid said among issues which he discussed with Khaled, who is also Johor BN chairman, included the coalition’s candidates.

“Local candidates should be given priority as the voters are more comfortable with them,” he said, adding that he would leave it to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is BN chairman, to determine and decide on the matter.
