Shahrizat dismisses rumours about contesting in Putrajaya

- “Eh gila ke?

KUALA LUMPUR:

(That’s crazy!).”

This was Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s response when asked to comment on rumours that she will contest in Putrajaya in the 14th General Election (GE14).

The Wanita Umno chief urged the public not to speculate on such matters.

She said her priority was to ensure that the Barisan Nasional Women wing’s election machinery was at its best.

“All these rumours should stop. (We should leave) matters relating to candidate selection for GE14 to BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak,” she said at the “Jualan Sentuhan Rakyat” programme in Kepong here yesterday.

Shahrizat said it would not be prudent for her or anyone else to name GE14 candidates.

“As the Women’s chief, I can suggest names. The rest depends on the chairman.”

Shahrizat said Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who is the Putrajaya member of parliament, was doing an excellent job in the constituency.

“He is always concerned about the people of Putrajaya, and I am impressed with his leadership there.”

On whether she planned to make a comeback in GE14, Shahrizat said “Wallahualam (only God knows) what will happen tomorrow.

“There is no need for speculation. We should never precede Allah.”

All these rumours should stop. (We should leave) matters relating to candidate selection for GE14 to BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak. TAN SRI SHAHRIZAT ABDUL JALIL
