CATS and dogs are the most common household pets in Malaysia. Cats love to roam outside of their surroundings while dogs need to get their daily walks. This places a heavy responsibility on their owners to ensure their wellbeing and safety.

With most of us working long hours, how would you keep tabs on your furkids while you are away?

The Microchip Pet Door Connect from Sure Petcare allows pet owners to control the installed pet door remotely via a smartphone or tablet, while keeping track of their pets’ activities and habits. When it works with the Hub, it will wirelessly connect to the home router to enable pet owners to monitor and control it when they allow their pets to come and go via the Sure Petcare app. Not only that, it is also able to track a dog’s behaviour, allowing owners to gain insight into their everyday habits. To make sure that only the correct pet will be able to leave the premises, this pet door uses a microchip-reading technology, which allows it to unlock only for the resident pet(s) microchip or RFID-collar tag. This helps keep the riff-raff out, and prevents other pets from leaving the house.

The Microchip Pet Door Connect is priced at US$200, while those who would like to opt for the Hub will have to fork out an additional US$65. The Sure Petcare app will send notifications to owners each time their pet leaves or enters the house. Over time, this will be added into a log, showing historic data that might help you spot a change in your pet’s behaviour or well-being. Now, is there something similar for rebellious teenagers as well?
