DATUK Lee Chong Wei’s response to allegations of being caught on camera in a viral sex video with an unknown woman was short: “It is not me”.

The professional badminton star said this could be the modus operandi of quarters who wanted to see him fail, especially when he was on the brink of premiering his biopic, Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend, next month.

“This is ridiculous, take one look at the video and you know it is not me,” Lee said.

He said he saw the video on Monday.

“People have been calling to confirm if it is me, and I laughed it off.

“Initially, I did not want to come forward as it is a waste of time.

“But, this is getting out of hand. I will lodge a report at (the federal police headquarters in) Bukit Aman today (yesterday).”

Lee said he was used to being the subject of such accusations, so much so that it was not funny.

“There will always be people who are not happy with your success and this is how they try to bring you down.

“I am not bothered, but it does get to you sometimes.”

Later, he confirmed that he had lodged a report, but did not say where he did it.

“I have lodged a report at a police station, but not in Bukit Aman. I will leave it to the police to investigate the issue.”

The New Straits Times had called Lee for comment when he did not turn up in Bukit Aman at 3.30pm, as he said he would.

“Whatever it is, just wait for the police to complete their investigations,” Lee said.

The video in question, which lasts three minutes and 12 seconds, shows a sexual act between a man, said to be Lee, and an unknown woman.

Though it could not be ascertained, it appears that the couple are filming each other.

On a separate note, Lee commented on the match-fixing scandal, which allegedly involves two professional shuttlers.

“It is a disgrace to our country and the sport.

“They (the shuttlers) may not be BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) players, but they carry the Jalur Gemilang on their chest when they play.

“As a shuttler, I think I should comment on this. I am ashamed.

“I hope the matter will be resolved soon and that BAM will take stern action against those involved.”
