Raja Teh Maimunah named Women Icon 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: AmInvestme­nt Bank Bhd chief executive officer Raja Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, who is also AmBank Group managing director of wholesale banking, has been named the Women Icon Malaysia 2017 at the Women Icons Summit & Awards recently.

Raja Teh Maimunah has more than 23-year experience in banking and finance, with focus on Islamic and investment banking.

She is currently the adviser on Islamic banking and finance to the World Islamic Economic Forum Foundation, a board member of Islamic Banking and Finance Institute Malaysia, and a member of the Islamic Finance committee for the Malaysian Institute of Accountant­s.

She was previously awarded a law honorary doctorate from the University of East London, the United Kingdom, and also holds a law degree with honours from the same university.

The Women Icons Summit & Awards celebrates and honours the accomplish­ments and contributi­ons of women who have excelled in different spheres of life.

The initiative underscore­s the paramount role played by women in the society, while appreciati­ng their attitudes, initiative­s, will power and perseveran­ce.

The Women Icons are those who have distinguis­hed themselves as prominent citizens that have displayed a strong mettle and capability to perform well in any field of endeavours.
