‘Azmin, communications director haven’t fully explained Ijok land controversy’
SHAH ALAM: Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and strategic communications director from the Selangor Menteri Besar’s Office, Yin Shao Loong, have failed to clear the air on the Ijok land controversy.
Faekah Husin, special officer to former Selangor menteri besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said the duo had failed to explain why the Selangor government had made an out-of-court settlement on the trial involving the seizure of land belonging to two companies, when it was at the appeal stage of the Federal Court
The property seized by the state government was from LBCN Development Sdn Bhd and Mujur Zaman Sdn Bhd.
Faekah said both companies had not only breached national land code provisions, but also failed to proceed with the housing project as per agreement with the settlers and thousands of housebuyers.
“To make matters worse, they had also mortgaged the land to get millions of ringgit in loans.
“With such a bad track record, the state government should not have agreed to an out-of-court settlement with the two companies, more so when the High Court and Court of Appeal were in favour of the state government.
“If the out-of-court settlement documents, which have since gone viral, are scrutinised, they state that the state government agreed to withdraw all notices of seizure, meaning the rights to the land were restituted back to the two companies.
“The state government then authorised the companies to sell the land to a third party, thus allowing a company that had betrayed settlers and housebuyers to make a huge profit.”
Faekah, who was former chief executive officer of Menteri Besar Incorporated, asked what good deeds had the two companies done to save them from being taken over by banks.
“Is this not a bailout?” she said.
“The menteri besar supposedly said that this was to resolve the problems faced by the settlers. But, for your information, the Pakatan Rakyat state government (not Pakatan Harapan) had resolved a major portion of the problems created by the companies, which was the Taman Alam Perdana abandoned project.
“In 2012, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim handed out 684 house keys to Taman Alam Perdana settlers and housebuyers.
“All this was done without mortgaging the land to companies, which failed to keep their promise to the settlers, housebuyers and the then state government.
“I find it amusing when I read the state government’s statement, which seeks to make a fool out of the people.”
