KUALA LUMPUR: The Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) will hold its business summit in Malaysia for the first time later this year.

The meeting, themed “Charting a Bold Future: US Businesses in the Asian Century”, will be a unique gathering of leading American firms in the region, said Siobhan Das, executive director of the American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce.

“With senior diplomats joining these executives, we expect robust, thoughtful discussions on the political and economic climate across Asia that can guide long term business planning decisions by US firms,” she said.

Das says that it is important to take advantage of this opportunity to highlight the commitment American businesses have to the Asia Pacific region and work to forge even stronger and deeper partnerships going forward.

“The APCAC Summit will provide business and government leaders a seat at the table as we work together to chart a bold future of American business in Asia,” she said.

According to the statement, 300 senior executives from major corporations including Visa, Pfizer, Motorola, JP Morgan, Coca Cola and ExxonMobil, along with high level government representatives from across Asia Pacific and the US, and media, academia and policy experts are expected to attend the summit.

APCAC represents 15,000 companies and 10 million employees belonging to 29 American Chambers of Commerce across the Asia Pacific and more than US$ 1 trillion (RM3.89 trillion) worth of trade in the region every year.

The conference will be held at the KLCC Convention Centre on April 4 and 5 this year.
