CASIO G-SHOCK RANGEMAN

THESE timepieces from Casio have always had that air of ruggedness. But being tough alone is not enough for today’s discerning consumers, which is why Casio has come up with the G-Shock Rangeman, a tough-as-nails watch that is also the first solar-assisted GPS navigation timepiece in the world.

Carrying the model number GPR-B1000, the G-Shock Rangeman incorporates a triple sensor that measures compass bearing, atmospheric pressure/altitude and temperature.

What we are most interested in is the GPS navigation capability, which is the first of its kind in a G-Shock watch.

The Rangeman will collect location data from GPS satellites while showing the existing location on a route or bearing to a destination in real-time.

In addition, it can save track and point data (including longitude/latitude, altitude, and temperature) in its integrated memory.

Using Bluetooth connectivity, the Rangeman can pair up with a smartphone to maximise the use of the G-Shock Connected app.

With this app, users can create routes or manage log data, showing saved tracks and point data on a 3D map or as a timeline.

Time accuracy is also not an issue as the Rangeman receives data from time servers so that you can always keep accurate time regardless of which part of the world you are in.

To sweeten the deal, the Rangeman comes with wireless and solar charging systems. The GPS functions will continue running for up to 33 hours on a wireless charge.

Should the battery reserves dip below the usable level for GPS while outdoors, the solarcharging capability will come in handy. The watch has a waterproof capability of up to 200 metres.

Priced at US$800.

For example, the slat belt technology has 59 individual shockabsorbing slats. It is constructed to deliver the ultimate low-impact and comfortable running experience. There is also a powerful soundbar.

Priced at US$3,995 (RM15,807).
