Cops raid meth labs in Negri Sembilan, Selangor

REMBAU: Police raids on meth labs in Negri Sembilan and Selangor recently yielded chemicals which could be used to produce 839.56kg of methamphet­amine, as well as 73.82kg of other drugs.

The chemicals, police said, could supply drugs to almost half a million addicts.

Federal police Narcotics Department director Datuk Seri Mohmad Salleh said the raids were conducted by Bukit Aman’s Special Tactical Intelligen­ce Narcotics Group, as well as the Selangor and Negri Sembilan police department­s.

Two Malaysian men and three Indian nationals, aged between 29 and 40, were detained in the raid at a syabu-processing laboratory at Kampung Kundur Tengah, Pedas here on Feb 13.

Mohmad said police seized equipment used to process the drugs, as well as 84kg of liquid which could produce up to 33.6kg of methamphet­amine.

Police launched five day-long separate operations against the drug syndicate members in Kajang, Batu Caves, and Ampang.

“In one of the operations, police detained a man in Bandar Teknologi Kajang and seized drugs from him. Also confiscate­d were chemicals used to process the substances. In the third and fourth operations, we arrested four men aged between 23 and 25 in Bandar Teknologi Kajang and Sungai Jelok (Kajang),” he said here yesterday.

He said a man and a woman, aged 37 and 51 respective­ly, were arrested in Batu Caves.

“In the sixth raid, police seized 26.52kg of methamphet­amine in Taman Cempaka, Ampang. No arrests were made,” he said, adding that police smashed drug-traffickin­g attempts in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam, after detaining three men and a local woman.
