SINGER FINDS ’NEW LOVE’ IN MOTOCROSS
DeFam singer Azira Shafinaz displays her edgy side with a passion for motocross, writes
“IT is just like riding a bicycle but with gears and an engine,” said Azira Shafinaz Ramlan. With a lithe body, flowing locks and comely features, Azira Shafinaz does not look like your typical dirt bike enthusiast.
The Kuala Lumpur-born actress and member of girl group De Fam recently uploaded a photo on her Instagram account of her on an off-road motorcycle clad in protective gear.
The caption read: “I have found a new love.”
“My dad is a fan of motor sports and always talks about bikes, so I wanted to be like him. Besides, I find girls who ride bikes are bada**,” she said in an interview with the New Straits Times.
Azira Shafinaz, 26, who starred in TV3’s teen drama series Married Tapi Benci, said her interest in motorcycles had always been there since she knew how to ride one since young.
“I recently did a campaign with BuroxDior, where they wanted me to face my fears so I decided to try motocross as it has always been something that I love. My family and I created a chat group so that we can ride together whenever everyone is free.
“Just be confident and do what you love,” she said of her newfound hobby.
She said her ultimate motocross goal was to perform extreme stunts.
“My uncle always invites me to join him in Kemensah (in Ulu Klang) to ride in the jungle,” she said, adding that she might take up the offer when time permits.
On another matter, Azira Shafinaz said she could not wait to entertain music lovers at the upcoming GegaRia Fest concert.
The concert is part of the youth-oriented festival, organised by Media Prima Bhd, which will take place on Saturday at the parking are of Darul Makmur Stadium in Kuantan.
GegaRia Fest concerts had been held in Shah Alam and Johor Baru, where De Fam had also performed.
“We will definitely give a 110 per cent for our performances. We will be singing Bila Ada Kamu and Supergirls,” Azira Shafinaz said.
Formed in 2015, De Fam — a pop, hip-hop and R&B trio — comprise Azira Shafinaz, Sophiatul Liana Mohd Sobri (Sophia) and Nurshazwani Shamsuddin (Cik Manggis).
The group won the Best Group Vocal Performance In A Song award at the 22nd Anugerah Industri Muzik in 2016.
The concert, which will start at 8.45pm, will also feature performances by Noh Salleh, Akim & The Majistret and Kugiran Masdo.
De Fam fans can catch the girls at a Meet & Greet session before the concert.
“Johor Baru was awesome, the crowd was super supportive.
“Here’s hoping Kuantan will be more fun,” Azira Shafinaz said.
