Highland residence features three apartment blocks overlooking South China Sea and lush mountainous landscapes
GAMUDA Land Bhd is keeping its maiden project in Sabah on the right track to provide the people in the state with nature-friendly homes by next year.
Spanning over 7.28ha on a hilltop in Inanam here, Bukit Bantayan Residences features three blocks of serviced apartments overlooking the South China Sea and lush mountainous landscapes.
Gamuda Land, the property development arm of Gamuda Bhd, has an extensive portfolio of good vertical communities not just in Malaysia, but also in Australia, Singapore and Vietnam.
Besides three towers of serviced apartments, Bukit Bantayan Residences also offers 25 retail shop lots, a park and wellness facilities.
The 25-storey Ebena Tower, which offers 296 apartment units, is about 60 per cent-ready and scheduled for completion next year. Eighty-five per cent of the units have been sold out.
The 25-storey 296-unit Cemara Tower and the 27-storey 320-unit Dilenia Tower are currently between 20 and 30 per cent complete and are expected to be ready in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Seventy per cent of Cemera Tower units have been sold, while sales for Dilenia Tower units will be launched next month.
With the construction progress and purchase feedback, Gamuda Land chief executive officer Ngan Chee Meng expressed confidence that the project would be completed ahead of schedule.
“When we started building Bukit Bantayan Residences, we didn’t simply cut hills but (rather) develop the area in line with nature.
“Our core value has always been to respect nature and the people’s needs. We maximise the view so our buyers can enjoy the beautiful nature within their living space. As a town maker, we address these two things first in each of our developments,” he said at the topping-up ceremony of Ebena Tower here recently.
Launched in 2016, the highland residence is built on earthquakeresistant structures which are able to withstand tremors of up to 7.0 on Richter scale.
Being an engineering-based company, Gamuda Land always ensured that slope and soil conditions were safe and suitable for developments, Ngan said.
“This is important so we can decide on the best methodology and safest measures to use. Gamuda is experienced in hillside developments and we are careful in these matters,” he added.
Gamuda Land hopes to grow its presence in Sabah by taking on a couple of development proposals. “At the moment, we will focus on Kota Kinabalu. The city has a lot of potential with a high number of tourist arrivals. I am not surprised if many tourists want to own homes here.
“I see the potential growth of Sabah itself, and with the PanBorneo Highway, rest assured there will be phenomenal development taking place in Sabah and Sarawak, just like in Peninsular Malaysia,” said Ngan.
