‘Dr M will use excuse to contest on DAP ticket’

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth deputy chief Khairul Azwan Harun believes that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir are in a desperate situation as they have failed to get support from Malays.

He said yesterday that Dr Mahathir and his son would use this lack of support as an excuse to contest the 14th General Election (GE14) under the DAP banner.

“I agree with the statement by Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi that Dr Mahathir and Mukhriz will contest on a DAP ticket in GE14.

“This has triggered dissatisfaction in PPBM and made Dr Mahathir unpopular among its members.”

Puad, who is also Umno Supreme Council member, had on Wednesday claimed that Dr Mahathir and Mukhriz would contest GE14 on a DAP ticket.

He had claimed that this was due to PPBM’s failure in gaining Malay support, especially in areas where they had planned to contest.

He had claimed that this was part of Dr Mahathir’s effort to sabotage his party and pin the blame on the Registry of Societies.

“PPBM is still unable to obtain RoS’ approval on whether the party’s annual general meeting is valid.”

Puad added that PPBM members had been pointing their fingers at Dr Mahathir as the main cause of the party’s failure to comply with its constitution in carrying out the annual general meeting.

He had called on Dr Mahathir to come clean on the matter.
