FELCRA’S WADIRA TO GET RM830,000
Money to be used to boost entrepreneurship among women
RM830,000 will be channelled to Felcra Bhd’s Dynamic Women’s Association (Wadira). Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said the allocation was in line with Wadira’s 2018-2022 Transformation Plan.
“I was informed that Felcra will provide RM10,000 to each Wadira branch.”
Established in 1979, Wadira has 83 branches with 17,562 members.
“I applaud Felcra’s decision and would like to congratulate it for emphasising the importance of entrepreneurial communities among women,” she said at the launch of the 2018 Wadira Convention at Putra World Trade Centre here yesterday.
Present was Felcra chairman Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin and Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“This convention is the first of its kind to bring together Wadira leaders and members to give them exposure and knowledge to grow their businesses.
“I support conventions that emphasise business, entrepreneurship, finance, beauty and spirituality.”
More than 1,500 people attended the two-day convention, a first since Wadira’s establishment.
At the event, Rosmah was named Wadira Felcra’s Inspirational Icon for her socio-economic contributions to the development of women and children.
Rosmah urged for a nursery to be set up at every Felcra office.
“Felcra and Wadira need to establish a nursery for early childhood education at their offices as this will boost women’s productivity.
“Permata is willing to cooperate with Felcra and Wadira in this effort,” she said.
Ismail said his ministry had increased allocations to Wadira with an additional RM250,000 this year.
“Compared with last year, RM750,000 was allocated to Felcra through its subsidiary, Felcra Training and Consultancy Sdn Bhd. The increment was to help Felcra’s women entrepreneurs,” he said.
