TERENGGANU Expo 2018’s success in attracting more than 500,000 visitors on its second last day has drawn high praise from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

In his speech to close the event at the Gong Badak Sports Complex yesterday, Najib said the state government, as the event’s main organiser, deserved top marks for the unexpectedly huge number of visitors, exposition content and the inspiration it had spurred.

Najib said he was exhilarated upon witnessing the exposition’s unusual reception, where 45 per cent ofthe state’s population of 1.25 million thronged the event, which, among other things, showcased the state government’s achievements.

“When we hold an exposition, there are yardsticks to determine its success or otherwise.

“The first test is the number of visitors. If we want to count the numbers here, I can give an extremely high score because the number of visitors is beyond expectations.

“The second test is its presentation or content, if it fulfils the requirements of the organiser, and the message conveyed is clear and understood by people.

“If we evaluate its content, even if I could not take a look at everything, I will give the highest marks to the Terengganu government because from what I see, it clearly showcases its achievements.

“Thirdly, we have to see if the expo can inspire visitors so that we can be encouraged to take part in the New Terengganu Transformation initiative. Top scores for the state government in this regard, too.”

Present were Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, former Terengganu menteri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said and state secretary Datuk Wan Nawawi Wan Ismail.
