THE Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit station here resumed operations on Sunday night, hours ahead of schedule, following its temporary closure on Saturday afternoon due to damage from a storm.

The announcement was made on RapidKL’s Facebook page and Twitter account.

It read: “(9.50pm update) the Kelana Jaya LRT station is now open to passengers.”

Prasarana Malaysia Bhd had said the station would reopen at 6am yesterday.

Checks at the station on Sunday night found that many commuters were unaware of the reopening because part of the platform was still cordoned off for repair work.

RapidKL staff were seen putting up notices at the station.

The notices read: “Remedial works are in progress. Thank you for your patience. Any inconvenience caused is much regretted.”

Facebook users lauded RapidKL’s swift resolution of the issue.

Yong Wai Cheng said: “Good job! Thanks to RapidKL staff who completed the repairs before tomorrow (yesterday).”

Ina Nadia said: “Faster than expected. Good job, RapidKL! So rapid la, RapidKL.”

Fazyzul Anuar said: “Congrats, RapidKL team, for working day and night. You guys are heroes.”

Zee Ree said: “Thank you for the immediate action to resolve the critical issue at the KJ (Kelana Jaya) station. Keep up (the good work).”

The station was temporarily closed when part of its roof was blown away by strong winds during heavy rain.

For safety reasons, RapidKL shut the station to carry out cleaning and restoration.

After the station was closed, free intermediate buses were provided to ferry commuters between the Taman Bahagia station and the Kelana Jaya station.
