Malaysians too play a role in achieving TN50
to propel the country in achieving the dreams envisioned for TN50.
“Having that said, we will never achieve these aspirations if Malaysians maintaining the same behaviour and refused to change into a compassionate society.
“We have set many targets for TN50, which also include making Malaysia one of the top 10 countries in the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s Global Innovation Index.
“Achieving this target, however, requires participation from the people,” he said during a special inter view on the TN50 Youth Canvas.
Among other targets proposed by youth for TN50 included making and placing Malaysia into the top 10 of the Economic Complexity Index, Top 20 in United Nation’s Human Development Index (Education) ranking, Top 20 countries in Health-Adjusted Life Expectancy, carbon neutral country by 2050 and Top 20 in the World Justice Project Open Governance Index.
Khairy also said he was impressed with the aspirations and ideas from the youth, who had attended 135 dialogues held at the district level nationwide for the initiative.
“I am very impressed by young people, who have given me hope. They have shared their ideas, which I am convinced can push the country to a higher level.
“My concern is if the aspirations expressed by those who had attended the event reflected the sentiment and will to improve of the entire 30 million population in the country.
“Like the youth, I too, have high hopes. But I have to be realistic and take into consideration several aspects including observing social media in coming to a conclusion,” he said.
