PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak yesterday took the opposition to task for not “walking the talk” on its aim to seek a twoterm limit for the prime minister’s post. Najib, who is also Umno president, said this is because one opposition figure had held the same position for five terms for 22 consecutive years.

“This is not Pakatan Harapan but

Pakatan Hipokrit (Hypocritical Coalition). Now, there is a 93-year-old man, who recently sought to limit the term of prime minister to two terms, despite him having held the position for five terms.

“Why was this (term limit for the prime minister position) not implemented previously?

“There is no democracy (democratic nation) in the world that elects a 93-yearold man as a leader. So, we must not give him the opportunity. Do not allow Malaysia to become the first country to do so,” he said.

Najib was believed to be referring to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Najib, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, was speaking at the launch of the BN Youth and Puteri wings election machinery at the National Youth Skills Institute here yesterday.

Earlier, he visited the Orang Asli at Kampung Sentosa, where he announced a RM20,000 allocation to install floodlights at the community’s futsal court.

Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional (BN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, commenting on PH’s recently-unveiled manifesto, said the opposition should “walk the talk” when making promises to the people.

“To me, they are just trying to fool the people again because in the previous general elections, they had deceived the people. They failed to fulfil their own manifesto,” he said.

PH’s manifesto was also criticised by Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan, who dismissed it as rhetoric.

He zeroed in on Pakatan’s aim to remove the Goods and Services Tax (GST), which he said could not be achieved. Takiyuddin said Pas would be launching its manifesto on March 18 in Cyberjaya.
