‘Prediction an attempt to divert voters’ attention’
ALOR STAR: The Invoke Malaysia poll prediction is merely the opposition’s attempt to take attention away from several issues affecting Selangor, especially the never-ending water crisis.
Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said since Invoke Malaysia was sponsored by PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli, the results of the poll might have been manipulated to divert voters’ attention from the problems they were facing.
He said the claim that Pakatan Harapan would take over Kedah in the next general election was fantastical, adding that Barisan Nasional would retain the state and turn the tables on the opposition in Selangor instead.
“They are worried because they will lose Selangor. That is why they want to take voters’ attention away from the water issue. Who doesn’t know Rafizi and his tall tales?
“It is a fantasy that they have, of taking Kedah from BN... the reality is that we will take back Selangor.
“It’s just like when we took back Kedah from Pas in the 13th General Election. It happened because the people were not happy with the state administration, and it will be the same in Selangor,” he said after opening the Alor Star parliamentary constituency Family Day here.
In Johor Baru, state BN chairman and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the Invoke Malaysia poll could not have been more wrong.
He called the poll “results” an attempt at psychological warfare.
“We will not let ourselves be influenced by such psychological warfare. In fact, we will spring some surprises on Rafizi and the rest of the opposition. It was so far off the mark. How could it say that Pas would not even win one seat, even in Kelantan? This is all just perception and ‘psywar’,” he said.
In contrast, said Khaled, Umno Johor had conducted a poll statewide earlier, with the specific question of whether respondents would vote for BN. The results showed a positive outcome for the ruling coalition.
“We carried out this poll in almost every road, lane and housing estate, four times over the past two years.”
