BN machinery urged to win bigger mandate

-

KANGAR: The Barisan Nasional machinery should not take things for granted as the party needs to secure a bigger mandate to form a stronger government in the 14th General Election (GE14).

BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak said with the mandate, the government could continue various development projects and, at the same time, boost investor confidence in the country.

The prime minister said a bigger mandate was crucial to attract investors so the country could sustain its development and economic growth to strengthen the ringgit.

“I do not want us to believe that everything is ours… we need to be disciplined and united, abide by the directive, and work hard to make sure we retain power by securing a bigger majority.

“In five to six years, we will transform the country, from Perlis to Sabah.

“Thus, we need to work hard to ensure a victory for BN,” he said when launching the state BN election machinery at Dewan 2020 here yesterday.

Present were Perlis BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man and state BN component party leaders.

Najib said BN would face a tough fight in GE14, but he believed that victory could be achieved if the party machinery was strong.

He said the country’s economy was expected to soar this year from various investments and development plans.

“If we are given a new mandate, we will move forward with greater strength,” he said.

In the same speech, Najib announced an additional allocation of RM3 million for small-scale projects in the Padang Besar, Arau and Kangar parliamentary constituencies. He said the government had allocated RM6 million for the same purpose.

“The other person cannot be relied upon because he is already 93 years old. That is not the face of the future because we want to move forward, not for one or two years, but for the future generation.”

Although he did not name anyone but it was understood that Najib was referring to Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
