Present were his wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Menteri Besari Datuk Seri Azlan Man and Minister in the Prime Mnister’s Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

The Perlis UTC, which was built at a cost of RM35.5 million, was completed 10 weeks ahead of schedule and had commenced operations since October.

During the same event, Najib also announced an additional allocation of RM500,000 for the construction of a surau, fencing and pedestrian walkway at the UTC.

Najib said the government had also approved two similar projects involving 500 units of PPR homes in Padang Besar (RM78 million allocation) and 400 units in Arau (RM62.4 million).

He added that the government had also approved the construction of a RM41 million water treatment plant in Tasoh, which was capable of processing 40 million litres of water.

A total of RM50.5 million was allocated for a project to solve the non-revenue water issue in the state.

“The Federal Government has also approved a RM50 million water barrage project in Kuala Perlis, an integrated public transport terminal (RM30 million), and the Padang Besar and Kangar Bazarias, each costing RM10 million,” he said.

Earlier, Azlan said the projects by the Barisan Nasional proved that the ruling coalition had never sidelined the state despite being the smallest in the country.

“The Perlis UTC itself is proof that the prime minister wants people here to receive the best and most efficient services that the government can provide.”
