Sound foundation at TAR UC

-

FOR school leavers who are planning to pursue tertiary education, foundation studies are particularly important in preparing them for the rigours of tertiary education. However, choosing the right higher learning institution can be overwhelming as it is one of the major decisions a young school leaver needs to make to ensure a promising future.

Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TAR UC) has over 49 years of excellence in providing pre-university education that has nurtured countless students.

The Foundation programme offered by TAR UC has been proven to prepare students to pursue their bachelor degree programmes in TAR UC.

Conducted by the Centre for Pre-University Studies, the Foundation programme is structured to ensure students are able to assimilate and gain a deeper understanding of the requisite knowledge so that they are well-prepared to continue in-depth studies at undergraduate level.

The Foundation programme is divided into Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science. To ensure that TAR UC’s Foundation programme prepares the students well for a wider range of TAR UC’s undergraduate programmes, the Foundation in Arts and Foundation in Science are further divided into two separate tracks.

Each track is comprehensively structured with the relevant subjects to provide and develop appreciation of key knowledge that will help students in transitioning from pre-university level to undergraduate studies in their discipline of choice.

In addition to this, students also have two new foundation programmes to choose from in TAR UC namely the Foundation in Accounting and Foundation in Engineering which will be offered in the May 2018 and September 2018 intakes.

The Foundation in Accounting is specifically developed to equip students who are planning to pursue Bachelor of Accounting (Hons) or Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in TAR UC’s Kuala Lumpur main campus or Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance which is offered in Penang branch campus.

Meanwhile, students who choose the Foundation in Engineering will be trained to study any engineering or engineering related science degree programmes in TAR UC.

The syllabus of the Foundation programme in TAR UC is designed, developed and delivered with the aim of equipping students with the solid foundation so that students are able to cope with the academic demands of TAR UC’s Bachelor degree programmes.

Lau Kim Hui who is currently studying the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electrical and Electronics in TAR UC is one of the many students who is reaping the benefits of pursuing TAR UC’s Foundation programme.

“Besides doing my own research on where to pursue my Foundation, a number of relatives highly recommended me to study in TAR UC because TAR UC has a very good reputation in terms of providing excellent education. And I discovered that what I heard about this institution is actually very true. The Foundation programme is comprehensive and intensive, which really helps me to fully understand the fundamentals of the bachelor degree programme that I am currently undertaking,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Jerome Looi Jun Qi is another student who completed the Foundation programme in TAR UC and is currently pursuing his Bachelor of Business (Hons) Accounting and Finance in TAR UC’s Penang Branch Campus.

“What attracted me to pursue my Foundation in TAR UC is the wide selection of courses available and the very affordable fees. Although the Foundation programme is only for a year, the syllabus for the Foundation programme is still very comprehensive. As such, the subjects that I am studying for my Bachelor degree programme are easy to comprehend as I understand the essential basics which I have gained from my Foundation,” he remarked.
