IJM bags RM1.12b LRT3 job package
Contract boosts company’s outstanding order book to all-time high of RM9.7b
IJM Corp Bhd has bagged a RM1.12 billion Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) underground package contract from Prasarana Malaysia Bhd.
This is IJM’s first construction contract win this year, boosting its outstanding order book to an all-time high of RM9.7 billion.
The latest job involved 2.1km of underground works for LRT3, which linked Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang, said IJM in a statement.
“We are proud to be bringing our tunnelling expertise to the construction of the tunnel for LRT3, an undertaking that further demonstrates our ability to carry out technically complex and large-scale urban infrastructure projects,” said chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Soam Heng Choon.
“IJM has a solid reputation of delivering high standards of quality and performance in project management, design and construction. This project is a continuation of our involvement in major rail transportation networks in the Klang Valley,” he added.
IJM will deliver the design, construction and completion of the twin-bored tunnels, a station, ancillary buildings and other associated works for the underground package.
The contract requires the use of boring machines to excavate the tunnels with an outer diameter of 6.35m, confirming IJM’s expertise in large-scale underground tunnelling and complex infrastructure projects.
The project was scheduled to commence this month, with a construction period of 31 months, said the company.
Last year, IJM completed 5.5km of elevated viaduct and four stations in Cheras for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit.
It had also completed works for the LRT1 and LRT2 projects.
IJM shares closed 2.99 per cent, or eight sen, higher at RM2.76 yesterday.
