KADS1M with more features

MORE than 1.2 million undergradu­ates from public and private universiti­es will receive RM250 via the 1Malaysia Tertiary Student Discount Card (KADS1M). Form Six students are also eligible for the aid. Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the payment will be made through Bank Rakyat, starting tomorrow.

“This allocation is in line with the 2018 Budget announced by the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak last October to lessen the financial burden of tertiary students due to the rising cost of living,” said Idris.

The ministry has allocated RM300 million for KADS1M 2018.

Idris was speaking at a recent dialogue session between the ministry and student leaders at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM). The event was part of the #KIT Keeping In Touch programme.

Students, who received the card last year, do not need to apply again as the aid will be automatica­lly credited into their existing Bank Rakyat savings accounts.

Unlike last year, they can obtain the card from any Bank Rakyat branch.
