KFC Malaysia’s Add Hope 2017 collects RM4.2m
PUTRAJAYA: KFC Malaysia collected a total of RM4.2 million at the close of its annual corporate social responsibility campaign, “Add Hope 2017”.
The collection is the highest ever over the 11 years of the annual campaign.
The collection was announced by Johor Corporation president and chief executive cum QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd chairman Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim during a finale event at Dataran Perbadanan Putrajaya on Sunday.
Also present was Add Hope Malaysia royal patron Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah.
“No words can fully express my gratitude for the generosity shown by our fellow Malaysians. With your donations, we are able to distribute the contribution,” said Kamaruzzaman.
“Let us continue to work together with KFC Malaysia and push this effort to greater heights in the coming years so that more deserving families can be aided and benefit from the funds.”
The annual fund-raising efforts began in June last year.
Similar to previous years, funds were raised through the sales of KFC’s Add Hope Meal sets, online donations as well as through donation boxes placed at counters in KFC restaurants nationwide.
In a continuous effort to raise public awareness on world hunger and poverty, a public charity run, “Add Hope Run – Stop Hunger”, was organised as part of the closing ceremony.
Themed “Empowering Juniors, Inspiring Change”, the charity run aims to instill good values among the younger generation and provide them with early education and awareness about the cause.
The inaugural charity run saw more than 2,500 young participants making their steps count with KFC Malaysia.
QSR Brands, a company under Johor Corporation Group, manages the operations of more than 750 KFC restaurants in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Cambodia.
The majority of the proceeds from the campaign will be channelled across Malaysia through collaborations with local nongovernmental organisations to help underprivileged communities.
A portion of the proceeds will be channelled to the United Nations’ World Food Programme to aid individuals from the most impoverished corners of the globe.
