COS reimagines modern classics in its Spring/Summer 2018 women’s collection, writes Nadia Badarudin
REINVENTED modern pieces infused with a futuristic tone and quiet drama take centrestage in London-based COS’ Spring/ Summer 2018 women’s collection. This fashion label is synonymous with pieces and styles meant to last beyond seasons.
Inspired from the past, present and imagined future, the collection stays true to its ideals of reinvented classics and modern silhouettes by exploring organic shapes and natuin ral materials.
This results a series of understatmodular ed modern classics composed in interchangeable ways.
CONTRASTING PROPORTIONS
Three-piece tailoring is reimagined to incorporate new fabrics, with the details creatively and caremisplaced fully or played up with contrasting proportions to add an element of surprise in each outfit.
Trench coats are reworked with organic soft shoulders, transparent vests and knitted sets with evolved proportions and tailored pieces with unexpected lengths and cuts.
Three-way fastenings are among the innovative details, and layering is the key in the arrangement of looks.
POWDERY SHADES
Designs are brought to life by cottons in textured, coated, crisp and crumpled forms, while knits of various weights are crafted from barely-there silks, chunky paper yarns and starched summer wools. Colour-wise, the natural and refined colour palette moves from purest white to woodinspired tones and summer browns combined with powdery shades of ochre, leaf green, mint, navy blue and red clay.
