‘Ensure zero defect during campaign’

-

KUALA SELANGOR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi called on Selangor Barisan Nasional leaders and its election machinery to ensure “zero defects” during the 14th General Election (GE14) campaign in the state.

Zahid, who is also home minister and BN deputy chairman, said BN component party leaders and grassroots should work together under one umbrella to ensure the coalition’s success.

“We move as a team. It does not matter if in GE14, we are leading (or campaigning for) other BN component parties or Umno. We must avoid any defects by all means.

“We must work harder to make sure our candidates win the seats contested. This includes the existing Jeram and Bukit Malawati seats. And we must regain Ijok. We ought to work sincerely and not for the money.

“Success is based on togetherness. Working together to see our elected candidate winning for BN and not to backstab or betray our fellow component party members or leaders.

“For example, we won by 460 votes in Kuala Selangor in the 13th General Election. Hence, this parliamentary seat must be given more focus. Serious effort must also be put into winning in Kuala Selangor,” he said at the “Sentuhan Rakyat” programme at SK Puncak Alam 3 here yesterday.

At the event, Zahid announced the Federal Government’s approval to build a police station in Puncak Alam, a Transformasi Nasional 2050 community hall to be used by schools and public in the area, and allocated RM1 million to upgrade roads around several apartments here.

Zahid also stressed the need for people to remember the contributions of past leaders who developed Kuala Selangor.

“This is a warning to my friends in Kuala Selangor. Do not merely take advantage (of such figures). We have to appreciate them.”

Zahid said Kuala Selangor, particularly Puncak Alam, saw development and progress thanks to the Federal Government and BN leaders who learnt the plight of the people and worked towards resolving them.

He said BN would serve the people of Kuala Selangor and work towards the district’s future development if BN was reelected.

Zahid took a swipe at the Selangor state leadership for being seasonal leaders, who only went to the ground during the election period. “Irmohizam has a huge potential to become a successful leader. It is a loss if he does not get the people’s support.”

Present were Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh and the ministry’s secretary-general, Tan Sri Dr Noorul Ainur Mohd Nor.
