Dr M will have his way, says DAP’s Seng Giaw

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed will have things his way, said veteran DAP leader Dr Tan Seng Giaw.

In an interview with Sin Chew Daily, Dr Tan said no one else had any say when Dr Mahathir had a say on things.

“He will make others feel small, wrap them up, then put them into his pocket. That is Dr Mahathir,” Dr Tan was quoted as saying.

He said he was sad that the DAP logo and flag would not feature in the 14th General Election in Peninsular Malaysia.

He said the decision meant that 52 years of hard work to establish the rocket symbol were in vain.

He said it had all turned into the “blue eye” in the blink of an eye, referring to PKR’s logo and colour.

He said he doubted that Dr Mahathir could draw the rural votes DAP had hoped for.

He said DAP would have to go through a rebuilding process should the opposition lose.

And, even if the opposition won, DAP would be weakened, he added.

Dr Tan was believed to had incurred the wrath of the senior DAP leadership after he had spoken out on the deadly Tanjung Bungah landslide on Oct 21, last year, which claimed the lives of 11 construction workers.

His remarks, through a poem he penned, reportedly drew the ire of DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who had kept mum on whether Dr Tan would be allowed to contest.

Dr Tan had in, the 13th General Election, faced off with Datuk Chandrakumanan Arumugam (Barisan Nasional) and Yee Poh Ping (Independent) and emerged victorious with a majority of 40,307 votes.

Dr Tan, who will not contest as an independent candidate, said he would continue to serve the people even though he would no longer be in politics.
