‘NO SUCH THING AS MALAY TSUNAMI’
The opposition cannot claim such a thing because it has done nothing for the Malays, says Johor BN chief
JOHOR Barisan Nasional has reminded Malay voters in the state to think wisely about offers made by the opposition to them. Its chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, said the opposition could not claim that there would be a “Malay tsunami” as it did not struggle for the community.
He said the state BN rejected the claim as it was made only to secure votes from the Chinese community in the state.
“How can the opposition say there will be a ‘Malay tsunami’ when there is nothing in its manifesto for the Malays? Why would they support the opposition when the latter did not offer anything for Malays and Muslims?
“For us (BN) in Johor, we have plans for the Malays. There will be no ‘Malay tsunami,” he said after attending the groundbreaking of the construction of Sekolah Agama Kerajaan Johor in Taman Bukit Mutiara, Taman Cahaya Masai and Kong Kong Laut here.
“The opposition said it won’t put this (the Malay and Islamic agenda) in its manifesto because it is in the Constitution.
“But still, how is the situation in Penang and Selangor? Although it is in the Constitution, it depends on the interpretation and implementation of those in power, not the ordinary people.
The ordinary people will say that they are secure because it is considered their right in the Constitution. But it depends on those in power at the time.”
