Adam aims to ride on Argentina momentum

- Fadhli Ishak

Sprinta Racing’s Adam Norrodin will hope to ride on the momentum of a career best Moto3 performance in Argentina earlier this month when he races in the Grand Prix of the Americas which starts on Friday.

Adam was in impressive form from the opening session in Argentina, placing second in the first practice followed by fourth in qualifying and fifth in the race.

His performance at the Termas de Rio Hondo Circuit was a positive sign that this could be the season where he can start challenging for the podium.

The 19-year-old, however, admitted that the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas has not been a happy hunting ground for himself in the past.

He crashed out of the race in 2016 (rookie year) and could only manage 19th after qualifying 25th last season.

“Texas (COTA) is a track where I have struggled every year,” said Adam.

“But I have better confidence this season and am also more confident with my bike, I understand it better now. My goal is to collect as many points as possible.”

The Johor-born will be riding alongside Japanese teammate Ayumu Sasaki, who impressed at the season opening round in Qatar last month but was off the pace in Argentina where he finished the race out of the points in 16th.

Adam is currently eighth in the overall Moto3 standings on 16 points while Ayumu is 14th with eight points.
