Dzulkifli: MACC will not be intimidated by threats

-

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers will not be intimidated by threats made against them, its Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad said.

Warning those who resorted to such methods, he said threats would not weaken MACC officers’ resolve to carry out their responsibilities.

He said such cowardly acts, like sending live bullets to the officers, would only motivate them to eliminate corruption and power abuse.

Dzulkifli was commenting on an incident where two senior MACC officers received parcels containing live bullets and a threatening note.

It was reported that the officers, of grade Jusa C, each received an envelope that was placed inside their house mailboxes in Bandar Seri Putra, Bangi, and Sungai Tangkas, Kajang, on Sunday and Monday.

They are attached to MACC’s headquarters here.

Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor was quoted as saying that a special task force would conduct a thorough investigation into the case.

Dzulkifli said the two officers had lodged reports, adding that MACC would give its full cooperation to the police.

“I would like to express my appreciation to the police for setting up a special task force to probe into the matter and identify the culprits.”
