To me, this incident has no impact on the party. He has been inactive (from party activities) for more than seven months.

PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) has confirmed that an individual arrested for a drug case is one of its Hulu Selangor youth leaders. Hulu Selangor PPBM division chief Badrul Hisham Jaafar said the youth chief, who was arrested at his home on Saturday, had been inactive in the party for a long time and did not attend any meetings.

He believed the arrest had no implications on the party.

“To me, this incident has no impact on the party. He has been inactive (from party activities) for more than seven months. When he’s inactive, we ignore, as we need aggressive leaders,” he said at the PPBM office here.

The youth wing leader, 30, was nabbed by the Hulu Selangor National Anti-Drug Agency at his home in Kampung Tengah, Batang Kali in Kuala Kubu Baru at 2.15am, based on a tip-off from the public.

News of his arrest went viral on social media on Monday.

Badrul Hisham said he did not know the youth leader personally, especially since he did not attend any meetings.

He said he was not surprised by the arrest.

“I learnt about the arrest just after 2am through phone calls and WhatsApp messages.

“The case is under investigation. I cannot get involved,” he said.

Attempts to reach the Hulu Selangor National AntiDrug Agency for comments proved futile.

The suspect has been remanded at the Kuala Kubu Baru Sessions Court for 14 days from April 14 to 27.
