Choose BN, Zahid tells first-time voters

BAGAN DATUK: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi yesterday advised young electors voting for the first time to support the Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election to ensure continuity of the national development agenda.

He said they should not be influenced by the accusations of the opposition who wanted to misguide them.

He said the generation to be shaped over the next 32 years in accordance with the Nasional Tranformasi 2050 (TN50) should give BN candidates the opportunity to ensure implementation of the agenda.

“Young voters should support the BN parliamentary and state assembly candidates, taking into consideration the commitment of Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Razak) in the face of the opposition’s challenges.

“Do not take heed of the accusations of the opposition who wants to topple the existing leadership,” he said at the Negaraku Youth Carnival at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Muara here.

Present were Umno Youth vicechief Khairul Azwan Harun and Malaysian Youth Council president Muammar Ghadafi Jamal Jamaluddin.

Zahid, who is also BN deputy chairman, said the BN manifesto launched by Najib, as the BN chairman, promised to improve the wellbeing of the people.

“However, the opposition will try to destroy BN’s plans and we have no choice, but to support BN.”

He said BN had achieved 99.4 per cent success in the implementation of its promises made in the manifesto for the 13th General Election.

Khairul said the two-day carnival offered the young people here 1,000 jobs through 30 exhibitors comprising government agencies and government-linked companies.

He said the carnival had been held over the past four years to help enhance the living standard of the young people, particularly in the rural areas.
