TTDI residents give thumbs up to Modern Policing Programme
The Modern Policing Programme implemented at the start of this year at 22 police stations in the city, including Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), has produced convincing results.
This was the consensus of at TTDI residents, conveyed by its residents association chairman Abdul Hafiz Abu Bakar, 61.
The residents, said Hafiz, were satisfied with the performance and commitment shown by those at the TTDI police station in restoring people’s faith and perception of security and safety in the neighbourhood.
“Although there is crime, the situation is under control.
“This is a stark improvement compared with the period before the programme was introduced.
“I wish I could support my claim with crime statistics for this area, but the records are kept and updated by the police.
“However, I can say the overall crime rate has declined.
“There is also improvement in the delivery service, including when people are seeking assistance at the police station.”
Hafiz also shared his personal experience with the police at the TTDI station.
“I noticed there were a few men acting suspiciously in the residential area.
“I alerted the police and a team arrived a few minutes after I called the police station.”
He said the association, together with the police, local authorities and the Fire and Rescue Department, would meet, discuss and update the situations in housing areas monthly.
“The presence of the police’s Motorcycle Patrol Unit and Mobile Patrol Vehicle in our neighbourhood has reduced residents’ fear of crime.
“We notice that the police have been carrying out roadblocks in the neighbourhood.
“The Modern Policing Programme not only increased our confidence and reduced our fear of falling prey to crime, it has also improved the image of the police.”
